What is your definition of fitness?

Are you physically and mentally tough when the pressure is on? Are you confident?  Do you believe in yourself and your ability to compete and win? Are you stressed out and feeling weak and compromised? Do you have energy and vitality sufficient to perform at your very best, even at the end of a busy day or week? Do your clients and your competition look at you and say, “Wow… he certainly looks up to the task?

“Physical fitness is not only one of the most important keys to a healthy body,
it is the basis of dynamic and creative intellectual activity.”  John F. Kennedy

In one sense an individual possesses fitness when he can successfully not only cope with all demands of living and stresses of all kinds; mental, emotional, and physical, but move beyond just coping to peak performance. How does one meet the demands of each day, even though with difficulty, with the energy and capacities beyond that of what most would consider “normal”?

The individual in the hospital suffering from or recovering from some disability may look on the man or woman on the street and say: “I would like to be as well as he is!” The man on the street may look at the athlete and say: “I wish I were as capable as he is!.” Certainly there are just as many degrees of fitness or good health as there are of sickness or ill-health.

Each individual is fit when his capacities are developed and maintained at a level near his
individual capacities for the demands that are most likely to be made upon him in the future.

The degree of fitness an individual possesses is measured by his capacity for quality effort! The ability of an individual to meet and exceed the goals and requirements of his profession. The football player is not in great condition unless he can play the full game as well as his fellow players, and better than those he’s competing against.

As America’s Fitness Coach®, Dave Hubbard wants people to realize that fitness plays a huge role in one’s ability to meet the demands of today, and the demands and uncertainty of tomorrow. Fitness is all about strength, confidence, energy, endurance, and good health.
